Mark your calendars: November 1st marks the start of National Entrepreneurship Month (NEM), a presidentially proclaimed month dedicated to the men and women who have taken smart risks in their businesses, and who have brainstormed new ideas and concepts that have shaped our country for the better. November celebrates past and present innovators and encourages future entrepreneurs to rise up and form a new generation. Since 2010, President Obama has made National Entrepreneurs’ Day (NED) a Presidential Proclamation, but it is not yet an officially recognized U.S. Day. National Entrepreneurs’ Day was created in 2010 and is the brainchild of David Hauser and Siamak Taghaddos, co-founders of Grasshopper, and Amir Tehrani, co-founder of The Legacy Foundation. In true entrepreneurial fashion, Hauser, Taghaddos and Tehrani took to Twitter and formed a grassroots campaign whose aim was to convince President Obama to presidentially proclaim NED. Now that they’ve succeeded, the team has a new goal: to make NED an official U.S. Day. Those who are interested in supporting the campaign or for more information can visit www.entrepreneursday.org.
Within the month of NEM, there also exists Global Entrepreneurship Week, a six-day celebration honoring entrepreneurs worldwide. National Entrepreneurs’ Day occurs on Nov. 19, as well as Global Women’s Entrepreneurship Day. Small Business Saturday falls ten days later, on Nov. 29.
Leading Retirement Solutions supports these initiatives and is especially proud to be celebrating Small Business Saturday and Global Women’s Entrepreneurship Day, two events which LRS identifies strongly with. As a woman-owned business, Leading Retirement Solutions strongly supports an officially recognized Day in place, celebrating the entrepreneurial spirit of our country and its citizens.
